In this foundational webinar, participants can expect to learn about the ‘building blocks’ of data literacy, as well as hear about an experience from a practical perspective demonstrating the value of data in elevating service delivery. This webinar will feature guest presentations by Dr. Derek Chechak (he/him) of St. Leonard’s Community Services and Aaron Carubba (he/him) of Wayside House of Hamilton.
Derek Chechak, PhD, is the Director of Quality Improvement and Crisis Services at St. Leonard’s Community Services, Brantford, Ontario. With extensive experience in social work and mental health, Dr. Chechak has contributed significantly to the field through research, teaching, and management roles. He has a strong focus on evidence-based implementation science and evaluation, driving clinical and operational excellence in mental health and addiction programs. Notably, he has published on various critical topics including workplace health, workplace violence, and the opioid crisis in Canada. Dr. Chechak is a registered social worker and a valued member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers’ Standards of Practice Committee.
Aaron Carubba is Quality Assurance & Data Management Lead at Wayside House of Hamilton. He applies a background in experimental biology to residential treatment through rigorous, data-driven studies of the client experience.
