All healthy mothers should have the
opportunity to receive immediate and uninterrupted safe skin-to-skin after
birth regardless of the method of delivery. Immediate skin-to-skin post
caesarean section is not current practice at our facility.
By incorporating evidence-informed
best practices, we have the opportunity for multidisciplinary collaboration,
which will improve maternal and infant health outcomes. This IDEAS team focused on the following aim; The % of safe skin-to-skin in the
OR at HSN post-elective caesarean section will be 50% by May 31, 2019.
