Hear from Ontario Health team members, clinicians and equity leaders who will provide insight on the historical context of “race correction” in health care for kidney and lung function testing and the need to implement race-neutral approaches.
This session will highlight changes Ontario Health has made to remove race correction from kidney care and in interpreting diagnostic test results for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Participants will:
1) Become familiar with the historical concepts of race correction in kidney and lung function testing, and its impact on patient care and health outcomes
2) Gain insight into how race-neutral approaches can be applied to interpret and report diagnostic test results
3) Become familiar with current Ontario Health efforts to implement race-neutral approaches for interpreting and reporting glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and spirometry
