The QIP program runs on an annual cycle. Planning materials are currently being updated and will be released mid-November and made available on the QIP Navigator Home page.
Tips on how to prepare for developing QIPs:
- Verify your QIP Navigator credentials to ensure you can log in and work on your QIP,
- Start developing your QIP early; review the guidance documents to assist you in the process,
- Plan to present your QIP to your organization’s Board members for approval (this will ensure your QIP is ready to submit by the deadline),
- Engage various people in the development of your QIP including patients, clients, residents, family members, front-line staff members and teams.
NEW! Enhancements to QIP Navigator
The QIP Navigator has undergone improvements to assist you in the development of your QIPs, including:
- Percentage Improvement feature – in the Progress Report, which auto-calculates the percentage difference between this year’s Current Performance and Current Performance as stated in previous QIP for all QIP matrix indicators (not available for custom indicators),
- Strategies for target achievements – In the Progress Report, in the comments field - organizations will be prompted to provide their next steps to reach their target in the future, if they do not meet their target as stated in the previous QIP.
- For hospitals participating in “Emergency Department Return Visit Quality Program” (EDRVQP) - the requirements for EDRVQP (narrative and return visit audits) have been incorporated into the Narrative as part of the QIP submission
