Patients over the age of 18 with major depressive disorder (MDD) who are seen at the Community Mental Health clinics are not currently assessed on the basis of severity and their time from assessment to treatment is not being tracked.
From a broader perspective, addressing this problem has the potential to impact patients' flow, treatment modalities offered and the level of staff responsiveness.
Our hope is that patients will receive timely access to treatment, including psychiatric care and evidence-based therapy modalities as recommended by the Ontario Depression Care Quality Guidelines.
