The Ontario Surgical Quality Improvement Network has just launched the Enhancing Surgical Recovery campaign to improve care before, during and after surgery.

Why? So patients feel better faster and potential complications are reduced, allowing member hospitals to help ease the surgical backlog and support pandemic recovery across Ontario.
Between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022, surgical teams will work to improve at least one surgical outcome (surgical site infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, or deep vein thrombosis) by 20% for at least one type of surgery.
Plus, we’ll be monitoring progress along the way and tracking the campaign’s impact on hospital length of stay.
Enhancing Surgical Recovery is a ‘Committed to Better’ campaign of 46 hospital sites across the province who are part of the Ontario Surgical Quality Improvement Network (ON-SQIN) supported by Ontario Health (Quality). Approximately 72% of patients having surgery in the province will be discharged from an ON-SQIN member hospital.
