It is estimated that 12% of all medical releases from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are at least partially attributable to chronic low back pain (LBP). Non-evidence informed imaging of non-specific LBP has proven to be a major cost driver within Canadian Forces Health Services, and its use goes against established standards, thus impacting both efficiency and effectiveness of LBP care.
