The Ministry of Health publishes Quality Based Procedure (QBP) indicator results on the Quality Based Procedure Indicator Tool (QBPIT) website:
The 2018/19 indicator results for the following QBPs are now available on the website:
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Cataract Day Surgery
• Hip Fracture
• Primary Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery
To view the indicator results on QBPIT, first-time users are required to create an account online.
Please note that in 2018, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) introduced changes to data elements in the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS). Some of these data elements are used to calculate QBP indicators (e.g. Discharge Destinations following Acute Inpatient Admission). Given that this is the first time those indicators are being reported since the changes were implemented, minor changes may be observed in the 2018/19 results compared to previous years.
Details on these changes introduced by CIHI can be found on their website:
